Receiving the delegation
The delegation of Banu Sulaym was a delegation from the tribe of Banu Sulaym that came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in Year 8 after the Hijrah, in the context of preparations for the Conquest of Makkah. Before that, Qays ibn Nashbah al-Sulami had become Muslim; he heard the words of the Prophet ﷺ and was moved by them, then returned to his people and called them to Islam. When the year of the Conquest came, Banu Sulaym set out and met the Prophet ﷺ at Qudayd. They were about seven hundred or around a thousand, and among them was al-‘Abbas ibn Mirdas al-Sulami. They declared their Islam and took part with the Muslims in the Conquest of Makkah, Hunayn, and Ta'if. The story of this delegation shows the spread of Islam among the Arab tribes before the Conquest of Makkah, and the shift of some tribes from waiting or opposition to active participation in building the Islamic strength.
