Commander and guide
Zayd ibn Thabit may Allah be pleased with him was the noble Companion Zayd ibn Thabit ibn al-Dahhak al-Ansari al-Khazraji, one of the scribes of revelation in the time of the Prophet ﷺ and one of the Companions most knowledgeable about the Quran and inheritance laws. He was still young when the Prophet ﷺ came to Madinah, but he was known for his intelligence and quick memory. He even learned some Jewish languages by the Prophet's command so he could read their letters and write back to them, and thus became skilled in knowledge, writing, and translation. He witnessed a number of battles with the Prophet ﷺ after growing up, and he had a great role after the Prophet's death, as Abu Bakr as-Siddiq may Allah be pleased with him tasked him with collecting the Quran into one codex after the battle of al-Yamamah. He was then part of the committee that Uthman ibn Affan may Allah be pleased with him relied on to copy the codices and send them to the provinces. Zayd may Allah be pleased with him was known for jurisprudence, precision, and trustworthiness, until he became a major authority in the Quran, inheritance, and القضاء. He died in Madinah around 45 AH. His life is a model of the Muslim youth who combined knowledge, service to revelation, and trustworthiness in preserving the greatest text in Islam.
